Project 365 – Day 25<\/p>\n

Every teenage boy lives for the day he gets his driver’s license, and maybe even more, the day he gets his first car.<\/p>\n

I grew up in a tiny town, and I somehow convinced my parents to buy me a motorcycle around age 12.\u00a0 I had my license by age 14.\u00a0 Shortly after, I upgraded my motorcycle to a Honda XL100.\u00a0 I loved that bike.\u00a0 At age 16, though, having a car suddenly took on more appeal.\u00a0 I don’t recall bugging my parents for my own car, but dad knew what every boy wants.\u00a0 So he took it upon himself to strike a deal.\u00a0 He traded my motorcycle plus a few hundred dollars for a then 11 year old car.\u00a0 This wasn’t just any car, though.\u00a0 It was a 1967 Mustang.\u00a0 Fire engine red.\u00a0 A true classic.\u00a0 Sporty.\u00a0 Easy to work on.\u00a0 It was a first love of sorts.<\/p>\n

Today I couldn’t help but reminisce when I saw this 1965 Mustang.\u00a0 It was a different model year than mine, and had a number of differences like a larger engine.\u00a0 But these differences were only minor.\u00a0 All-in-all, it looked very much like the one that took me through my high school and college years.\u00a0 “Molly” was like a best friend, and today I missed her.<\/p>\n
