No Place Like Home<\/p><\/div>\n

Fast forward a year and 3 months … I received a\u00a0note (posted below) from Tom Hare, the passionate owner and artist of this fantastic work-of-art cabin. \u00a0His note completely made my day<\/strong>, and it reminded me how seemingly small things can have lasting impressions.<\/p>\n

I hope things are going good for you, as things are going good for me. Thanks for giving me a new direction to travel in my life. That photo you took of my kitchen changed everything for me.\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

As I told you, my cabin made Home Of The Week in two major newspapers in 2018; it was also featured again in both of those papers in an end-of-the-year recap of the best kitchens and bathrooms. My cabin, which came in under $5,000 for everything, was up against $35,000 kitchens in $1,000,000 homes. You can imagine what this did for me and my self esteem- I had to go to town to get measured for a bigger hat.\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/div>\n

I am now trying to get a grant to finish this farm off. Some of my projects include:<\/em><\/span><\/div>\n

  • Building a blacksmith shop<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Building an outhouse with a flush toilet<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Getting the spring house working again<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Signage for the nature trail<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Getting the saw mill working again<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Refurbishing my gasoline powered Maytag washing machine (It washes clothes, makes butter and ice cream, and grinds meat! This runs on\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a01920s technology, and I can’t even get a cell phone to work here)<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Building a summer kitchen<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Starting a farm garden like old farmsteads used to have<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Registering both farms as film locations.\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n
    All of this just started to come to mind after you took that photo of my kitchen. On February 23, a photography club will be coming here for a field trip, and they will want to know what kind of camera and lens you used when you took that photo.<\/em><\/span><\/div>\n
