Reflecting – One Month In

Project 365 – Day 33

This weekend I eclipsed month one of my year long Project 365 challenge.  A few key observations as I reflect:

  • I am encouraged.  I’ve been able to stick with my commitment to capture a unique, interesting image each day.  As mentioned from the outset, there may occasionally be days I’m unable to post to the blog.  My primary goal as a photographer is to capture a daily image.  So far so good.
  • Blogging (the writing part) has been more challenging than I had imagined.  At the same time, putting words to my images has been more fulfilling than expected.  Combining both visual and written content to what’s on my mind, or to a moment captured in time, brings a personal satisfaction that is hard to explain.  I find it more fulfilling than independently writing in a journal or displaying a photograph.
  • Several readers have told me I am a good writer.  This REALLY surprised me, and I’m still not sure I buy it.
  • I am loving this creative process.  Yes, there are days when I feel “obligation” rather than creativity.  But overall, I find that once I start conceptualizing and shooting, ideas present themselves fairly quickly.
  • There’s a lot to be said for frequent, consistent repetition.  It helps one refine skills and stretch capabilities.
