John Oliver Cabin at Cades Cove
Cades Cove is a favorite. It exemplifies the Smokies and earlier pioneer life there, in my opinion. The old home place of John Oliver should be familiar (see this post from the fall of 2011). Photographing it this spring provided a different twist because of the incredible blooming dogwoods and lush spring greenery.
The two room interior us full of wood textures and smells that take one back to a much simpler place and time. It was fun shooting creative macro textures from the interior wood door handles and the like, and I enjoyed dreaming up something different.

Carl from inside John Oliver Cabin

Very nice!! Love the colors and how they pop in that first one (of the cabin)……that second one? Could have found a more appealing subject! 🙂 Seriously, well done!!
Great perspective! Somewhat different than what I often see (and you obviously had a wider, sharper lens than I did when I shot it three years ago about 20 feet to the right – lol). And the dogwood! It’s like a layer of mist in the trees! … As to the second image … just one question … is it in black-and-white because Carl’s face was too red from holding his gut in to be color corrected later?? (Nice image, textures and spot-on contrast, by the way.)
